March 19th- MVFC had a very special visitor drop in at the station, his name was Kevin Shea from the FDNY. (Rescue 1) He is most notable for a very heroic rope rescue from the 12th floor at an office building fire in 1991. Kevin was then injured in 1993 at the first World Trade Center bombing when he fell into a crater after the floor collapsed while he was conducting search and rescue efforts for injured victims. Kevin received major injuries as a result of the fall. Kevin was then promoted to Lt. and then had to medically retire from the FDNY. While he was here visiting with us he responded along side Co. 8 personnel on the MVA on Hade Road and a shed fire in Co. 7 area. Afterwards the crew and Kevin had a tasty meal at a local establishment. We look forward to seeing Kevin in the near future. Click the link below for the full story in 1991.
