ENGINE 8-2 HOUSING CEREMONY

Nov. 22 - The members and officers of the Marion Volunteer Fire Co would like to thank all persons that attended the housing ceremony for the new Engine 8-2. To start the night off Pastor Chris Renner provided the prayer dedication followed by President Denny Carr giving the introduction of guest. Marion Town Chairman Owen Myers then gave a brief speech on behalf of the Town of Marion, Chief Houpt was then next in line for the introduction of the Engine Committee, Those members include Chief Houpt

 (Chairperson), Rich Baker, Alex Baker, Thomas Shoop and Paul Shannon. After the Committee introduction, Past Fire Chief Jim Pickings gave a Fire Apparatus History of the Marion Volunteer Fire Co. After the history of apparatus was given there were 3 different pushes into the firehouse. The first push into the firehouse was life members and 2 of the 4 remaining charter members of the fire company. Those 2 members are Owen Wilson and Dick Walck. The second push was by the present members and the 3rd push was made by the future members which included the JR firefighters and the children of the present members. After the last push there was a christening of the engine with champagne and a reception with a meal and music.
